MAGISTRATE’S COURT

POLICE AND SUMMONS CASES Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., was on the bench in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday Claude Paget, alias Charles Parker, a labourer, aged 45, was fined 10s. for insobriety. William Logan, a bootblack, aged 74, on charges of being drunk and casting offensive matter, was remanded for a week.

Peter Grasis, a Russian, on a charge of being helplessly drunk, was ordered to pay costs amounting to £3 17s. Gd. Robert Mack and Gilbert Martin were each ordered to pay Court costs and a third share of the value of a gate noticeboard and trees, the property of the City Council, which they pleaded guilty to damaging. H. H. Plummer and E. A. Rees, provision merchants, of Wadestown, were each fined £1 and costs 7s. for failing to close their trading premises at the proper hour on the statutory half-holi-day. ' James William Smith, on a charge of selling goods on a Sunday, was convict? ed and fined L‘2 and costs 7s.
