ALLEGED ERROR ON BALLOT PAPERS Bi Telegraph-— Press Association Auckland, May 4. It is possible that the official count of votes in the Citv Council election will not be final. Air.' R. F. Barter, one of the unsuccessful Labour candidates, alleges that some of the ballot papers contained an error in the spelling of his name. Air. Barter stated this evening that on some, but not all, of the papers, his name was given as “Richard French Basten,” the surname being the same as that of Aliss A. 11. G. hasten, another unsuccessful candidate. The matter will be brought before the Auckland Labour Representation Committee at its meeting on Wednesdayevening. In the mecfutime, Air. Barter states, he is taking no action. He considers that he must have lost a number of votes for the reason that his surname did not appear on the incorrect papers.
