Ripa Wihongi, who was chosen at a gathering of Bay of Islands ATaoris at Waimate North to contest the Northern Maori seat at next general election, as a Labour candidate, is a descendant of the great Ngapuhi chief, Hongi Ika, the Napoleon of New Zealand. The annual procession of Canterbury Co’lego students was held in Christchurch yesterday, but was completely spoiled by the heavy rain.—Press Assn.
