BODIES OF MAN AND GIRL FOUND SAWN-OFF SHOTGUN USED By Telegraph—Press Association. Rotorua, Alay 4. A man and a young gin were found dead with gunshot wounds alongside a motor-car, a two-seater Dodge, No. 30 —GO5, on the shore of Rotonia Lake, at 10 a.in. to-day. A short time previously a roadman, Relpli, had discovered the car attempting to travel along the extreme eastern shore of the lake. He assisted the occupants and warned them that the route was impracticable. Ten minutes later he heard the report of a gun, and on investigating found the two bodies lying by the side of the car, the wheels of which were in tlie lake. Both were dead. The girl was shot through the heart, ami the man through the mouth, the side of his face being blown away. The bodies lay exposed to the sight of passengers on vehicles to and from the coast. The weapon was a single barrel shot-gun, with stock and barrel sawn off. Investigations made by the police indicate that the man is C. Olsen, a storekeeper, of Horotiu, aged 39, and the girl Alolly Aloors, aged 11. A scrap of a telegram indicates that Olsen wired to the girl at Hastings to meet him, fjnd that she was accountant to Olsen. Their movements have not yet been traced. The police brought in the bodies tonight.
