The Bulgarian Legation at London has issued a communique denying Colonel Wedgwood’s statements/ ) The document states that the number of persons arrested throughout Bulgaria do not exceed two thousand, and six hundred have been liberated. None have been tried yet. still less executed. Regret is expressed that Colonel Wedgwood and his friends had spent only three days at Sofia. If they had remained longer, _ the communique declares, they would have learned that the rumours to which they had given credence had no foundation in fact. The Agraro-Communist conspiracy did not come from the Constitutional Opposition. The latter, including the Socialists, Democrats, and Liberals, enjoy full political liberties and a free Press. —Reuter. I LABOUR PROTEST IN LONDON STORIES OF OPPRESSION DENIED (Rec. Alay 3, 5.5 p.m.) London, Alay 1. At the conclusion of the Alay Day demonstration a procession marched to the Bulgarian Legation, where, amid the singing of the “Red Flag,” a protest was presented against the alleged persecution of Bulgarian workers. The crowd outside was regaled with speeches by leaders, including one from Air. Ben Tillett. A slight melee resulted in the police clearing the pavement amid booing. A Bulgarian official, replying to the protest, declared that the stories of oppression were maliciously spread and were unworthy of credence.—Reuter.
