MAGISTRATE’S COURT
POLICE AND SUMMONS CASES. Mr. C. R. Qrr-Walker, S.M., dealt with the police and summons cases in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Basil. Harry Fleming, charged with breaking and entering the dwelling ot William Pitman at Lyall Bay, and stealing a lady’s watch valued at £2 and £1 17s. in cash, was remanded until 51 ay 8. Robert Austin McFarlane, aged 47; who claimed to have been a journalist in Australia, appeared on charges of vagrancy, theft of £lO, and theft of two gimlet bits valued at 18s. On the « first charge accused was sentenced to two months’ impßseninent. on the second to three months’ imprisonment, and on the thiiid ‘to days* imprisonment, tho sentences to be concurrent. SUMMONS CASES. Sarah Alice Thacker, who was charged with damaging ten panes of glass valued at £2 10s., was convicted and dis-f-.harged. the amount of tho damage having been made good. Maud Ethel Hothensall was fined £1 for krening open a shop for the purposes of Sunday trading. Perov William Solly was fined £2 and costs for breaches of a orohibition order. A’exander Anthony Fraser was fined £1 for being on,licensed promises after hours. failure to close his shop at the required hour cost .Too Wah Lee £2. W. J. Hart whs lined .£2 for failing to have his spring balances reverified. K. Hemingway was lined 10s. for a similar offence. Kate Hughes, charged wit.li obtaining • n larger pension than she was cntilled ‘ > by making a false statement, was ordered lo come up for senteneo if called upon within three years, and was oidaiied to make restitution of X’fcO, lit tho rate of 10s. per month.
