Bridgeman, First Lord of the Admiralty, stated in the House of Commons (reports a Reuter message) that of the four large floating -docks banded over to Britain by Germany one had been sold; two were being utilised at Singapore; and the fourth was at present surplus, and therefore in the interests of economy it should be sold. The question of its use at one of the English dockyards had been considered, but his opinion was that the best thing was to dispose of it now. Colonel A. R. D. Carbery was elected a member of the Council of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts last evening, vice Mr. W. A. Bowring resigned. Air. Charles Wilson was elected a vice-president. Air. S. IT.
