Paris, December 27. M. Berthelot, Secretary-General at the Ministry o*f Foreign Affhirs, has resigned owing to public criticism because he officially asked American banks to accept cheques in favour of the Industrial Bank of China, wherewith M. Berthelot's brother was connected. M. Berthelot explained that he made tho request on the advice of leading financiers.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
