The Primo Minister (Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey) has not yet fixed the date of his departure from Wellington for the north, but he intends to open the Waiuku railway on January 5. Ihe Minister of Public Works (Hon. J. G. Coates) will bo present at the ceremony. Mr. Coates left 'Wellington ior Auckland at midday yesterday. A Press Association cable message from Adelaide reports that Mr. James Robins Km. a ’prominent South Australian bowler, dropped dead while playing in the first round of the championship at tho Australian bowling tournament at Adejaido yesterday. The death occurred at Dunedin on Christmas Day of Mr. Dugald McPherson. aged 75 years, a member of tho firm of McPherson and Kemp. Ho was three times president of the Commercial Travellers mid Warehousemen’s Association of New Zealand, and once president of the United Association of Australasia. Ho was chief of the Gaelic Society for 20 years and a member of many other local bodies. Ho was also a prominent Mason. —Press Assn. Mr. J. A. Fernandez, of Petone, is at present on a visit to Auckland.
