THE MEAT POOL
APPROVAL FROM MANCHESTER.
“A very important message,” was tho Prime Minister’s comment as he handed tho following cablegram to a Dominion representative yesterday afternoon ;— Manchester will gladly coordinate your export proposals, providing dock storage and distributing facilities through existing channels to the advantage of one-fifth of the. population of Groat Britain. (Signed) Simon, lord Mayor of Manchester; W. C. Bacon, chairman, Manchester Ship Canal; Marshall Stevens, M.P., chairman, 4th Manchester Warehouses, Trafford Park Cold Storage, and Manchester Consignment, Ltd.
Reference to the meat pool prompted Mr. Miassey to observe that there was an. erroneous impression in the minds of some persons that the new organisation would be a new Government Department. “It will not be a Government Department,” he said. "It will be the producers’ own organisation, with Government support -and backing.”
