NEW AWARD FILED.

The Arbitration Court has filed its award in the tailoresses and other clothing trade employees’ dispute. It affects the whole of New Zealand, and generally follows the existing award. Wages are brought into line with those granted in recent awards covering kindred trades. Oilers are provided for for the first time, and the term of the award is for two years. Pressing log conditions have been altered to read: "At rates below with addition of 42J per cent." The minimum wage for journeywomen is J 32 per week, with a bonus of ss. per week; male machinists, minimum, .£3 17s. per week. Is: 9d. per hour, bonus 3d. per hour; second-class chart cutter, .£4 os. Bd. per week. Is. IQd. per hour; stock cutter and trimmer, .£3 17s. and Is. 9d.; examiner in charge of finishing room, .£3 17s. an'd bonus of 3d.; apprentices for cutting and trimming, per week, first six months .£l, second 235., third 205., fourth 295., fifth 325., sixth 355., seventh 405., eighth 455., ninth 505., tenth 555.; pressers and oilers, at option of employer, either at minimum wage of £3 17s. or Is. 9d. per hour; clothing oilers, minimum time prescribed for pressers and a bonus of 3d.; casual workers, not less than 2s. 3d. per hour. The overtime clause in all awards applies to pressers and clothing oilers, with the addition that pieceworkers shall be paid at rate and a half. Wages for apprentices begin at 255., and increase: ss. every six months to .£2, and the next year are increased by XI.
