LATE SIR ARTHUR PEARSON

TOUCHING FUNERAL SERVICE.

(Rec. December 14, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 13.

The funeral of Sir Arthur Pearson was ono of the most touching and most imposing ever seen in London. It was attended by an enormous concourse, including 2090 blind men and women from all parts of Britain. The wreaths were unique both in number and beauty. Florists declare. that they had not seen such.a deniand since King Edward’s funeral. The tributes included a huge white cross from the blind Australian soldiers. The King and Queen, the Prince of Wales, and the Queen of Norway were all represented at the service. Queen Alexandra’s wreath was personally inscribed: “Life’s race ■ well run; life’s work well done; life’s crown well won; now comes the rest.” Two hundred Guardsmen assisted the blind mourners nt the cemetery, lhe pallbearers included Sir Washington Ranger and Captain Fraser. After the interment the largest gathering of blinded people that has ever assembled in Britain filed past the grave. Lady Pearson was unanimously elected president' of St. Dunstan’s to-day.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
