LET THE PAST GUIDE US
Sir—Our returning Prime Minister proclaims the need for economy; the chairman of one of our principal financial institutions has proclaimed the need lor economy repeatedly. There is great virtue in retrospect—in remembrance I recall very clearly a conversation held with a working settler in past days. He had through a period of protracted endurance kept a wife and several children on wages which did not amount to more than fifteen shillings a week. Wo have all to bear in mind that there is practicallv the same sunshine; and that the same" climatic conditions rule now, as ruled then; and if we as individuals have not the same courage is that to our credit, seeing that courage is to be had. - 1 a “’ etc ” CENSOR.
