FIRE IN WALLACE STREET

A washhouse, at the rear of a property at No. -10 Wallace Street, was destroyed by fire shortly after 7 o’clock last evening." It was owned by Mrs. Susan Hill, who owns and occupies fine house adjoining it. There was no insurance on the destroyed building.

The Fire Brigade did all that was possible. Officials consider that the fire was caused bv rats having taken matches to their nests. There were indications of many rats having been in the vicinity of the washhouse.

The above report should prompt, those who are uninsured to call on the Australian Provincial Assurance Assn., Ltd., (A.P.A.), 219 .Lambton Quay. ’Phone 70. —Adrt.
