MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the Makara County Council was held yesterday, when there were present: Councillois D. b - ant (in the chair), L. AVindlej, L. • Nairn, S. S. Styles, b- Bowler, and HJ. Monaghan. On -he motion of Councillor V inole., seconded by Councillor Monaghan, it wm decided that steps be taken to furthei an application made to the Conimissionei of Lands to have the Crown lands at litahi vested in the. council under -he reserves and Public Domains A cl ; 11 decided, in addition, to Commissioner that the council could not see its wav to accept any liability regaid ing ihe water encroachment Irom the hltpihu a.t Doddington. 'Support was i'm’ni”hed the following remit forwarded by the Stratford loeal body: "That the Government be to remit the duty <»’ <-’emen; for local bodia-. as their work, being principal!} bndj. s and culverts, is really national work a J that the support, of other Xeu Zealand counties be invited.' . It was decided, on the. motion of -he ehaii-man, to support the Counties Association in its objections to the Local Bodies’ Finance BiU- . Mr. J. R- Piper was appointed ranger for the county.
