WAIRARAPA SOUTH
COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING. From Our Own Correspondent. Carterton, November 25. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council was held at Carterton to-day, Councillor T. V. Moore (chairman) presiding. The treasurer reported a debit balance of <£3175 13s. Bd., and receipts for the month £ll7 2s. fid. Accounts totalling £875 ss. 2d. were passed for payment. It was decided to add the 10 per cent, penalty in all rates unpaid • alter December 15. . , An invitation was received to the unveiling of the Maori, Memorial at Masterton December 4. The Masterton County Council wrote acknowledging the grant towards the maintenance cost of the Gladstone Ma - terton Road, and also stating that the erosion at Pike’s cutting was being water-race overseer reported that general cleaning work had been attended to during the month. The report of the Taratahi water-race overseer stated that cut gorse had caused n good deal of trouble by getting into the races, and blockages had been caused bv roots of trees, all of attended to. A suggestion that leaky pipes in Norfolk Road be cemented was " The d ranger reported having dealt with Sfi head of stock during the month, and a complaint against the owner of stgck W1« referred to the county solicitor. ¥he application of T H. Wilson for a water service through P. Rayner s pronertv was granted on certain conditions. P Mr. A D- McLeod, M.P.. wrote enclosing a reply from tho Minister of Public Works with reference to the metaWng of a road through Settlement, and also tho grant of ■ - being reinstated for the formation of tho niwlwta deviation. Gray was granted permission to close part of Woodland’s Hood for two years, for the purpose of clearing R °ln e referenCe to the claim made against F Ben"- in respect of the water-rnco construction and maintenance rate, it was resolved to reply that the council I,nd previously altered the assessment, and further alteration would be an injustice to other rntenayers.
