McCONACHY DEFEATS NEWMAN. (Rec. November 26, 5.5 p.m.) London, November 25. At the close of to-day’s play th? scores in’ the billiards matcli between McConachy and Newman were: McConachy, in play, 14,252 (including breaks of 254 and 178); Newman, 12,598 (including breaks of 180, 142, and 119).—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn (Rec. November 27, 11.5 p.m.) London, November 26. McConachy defeated Newman, who scored 14,585. The former’s breaks included 321 and 102 unfinished. Newman’s best break was 307.' 'The "Observer,” commenting on the possibility of a Dominion player winning the billiards championship, says "McConachv impressed all good judges with his gam?. He had to master the difficulties of the ivories before being regarded' as dangerous to British players. To what extent he succeeded may be jud"ed by his sound achievements against N?wman.”—Aus.-N.Z.
