Tho Government was considering whether it Should amalgamate the three insurance Departments of State—namely, Government Life, State Fire, and Accident Departments. flic Prime Minister stated yesterday in reply to a question by Mr.'V. H. Reed. 'At the public meeting at the Town Hall on Friday evening in connection with the National Memorial Military Chapel, Messrs. J. A. Doherty and Howard Foster will render vocal items. Professor W. N. Benson, of Otago University, will lecture under the auspices of the Wellington Philosophical Society this evening nt the Art Gallery, on “Leonardo da Vinci,” tho painter, sculptor, mathematician, and scientist of the fifteenth century.
