A most enjoyable evening took place, at the Wellington Jewish Clubrooms. Ghuznee Street, on Thursday, when the members of the Wellington Federal Club, accompanied by their president, Mr. W. Fordham, participated in the following games against the. Jewish Club: —Billiards, snooker, chess, draughts and bridge. The games resulted in a draw—--7 points each. After the games, supper was dispensed, and a welcome speech was made, by Mr. J. Zacharia'h (chairman, Wellington Jewish Social Club). Mr. W. Fordham, on Irehalf of the Federal Club, suitably responded. Cultivation of rubber was first attempted in 187 G. About 80 per ent. of the 70,000 tons of rubber annually produced ' is now cultivated.
