“GWENWYN OF THE LONELY TOWER”

IN AID OF PLUNKET HOME APPEAL. On Saturday, November 5, in the Grand Opwa House, under Vice-Regal patronage, a dance recital will be given in aid of the Plunket Home Fund by Miss Cai-well-Cooke and her pupils. Tho performers number 139, and Miss Chiuell-Cooke, besides directing the entertainment, will herself give two solos during the evening. Tho first part of tho entertainment will consist of three separate items, the opening number being a spirited ragtime item by Miss Carwell-C'ooke, supported by a ballet of 40 children. This item will begin punctually at 8. Tho latter portion of the recital will take the form of a twoact fairy play entitled "Gwenwyn of the Lonely Tower," presented by permission of Miss Daphne Knight. In this charming fantasy Miss Carwell-Cooke will appear as the princess and Miss Zita Chapman (who is training the children in tho speaking parts) as the. Prince. The rest of tho cast is as follows —Prince’s Companion, Miss Marjorie Bennie; Princess’s Companion, Miss Marjorie Morton; <Jueen, Miss Vera Nesbit; North Wind, Miss Mavis Chamberlain; South Wind, Miss Eileen Clapham Other interesting characters include Penguins, Bears, Moths, Bats, Pineapples, Irises, Roses, an Ice Fairy, a Jester Ballet, and a full pack of cards complete with joker. Special attention has been paid to frocks and scenery, and a really good entertainment is promised. A flower stall in charge of Mrs. K. Preston, and a cake and sweet stall presided over by Mrs. Bayfield, should provide an acceptable addition tc tho money raised by the sale of tickets. All friends and those interested in the Plunket movement are appealed to for gifts of flowers, cake, or sweets which will be gratefully received at the Opera Hcuse on Saturday morning, November 5.
