AUSTRALIAN GOLFERS
KIRKWOOD AND EAST RETURN. By Telegraph—Pre IS Association. Auckland, October 28. Kirkwood and East, the well-known golfers, returned by the steamer Makuni. Kirkwood and East will play on five New Zealand links before leaving Wellington for Sydney. They stated in an interview i'hat the standard of the playin the United States was as high, if not a little higher, than in Britain. Kirkwood hoped to bo able to give a display that would be a distinct improvement on tho game ho played previous to the present tour. He has a very high opinion of Douglas, and would have liked to see him compete in the Australian championships.
