BALLARAT BAND CONTEST

CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY MALVERN TRAMWAYS. ! Melbourne, October 24. The Malvern Tramways Band, the champions in 1920, have again won the championship at the band contests at Ballarat. ' The points in the test selection were: Malvern Band, 188; Newcastle Steelworks, 181; Kaikorai, 170. —Press Assn. Dunedin, October 24. \ private cable message reports that the Kaikorai Band, the sole representative of New Zealand at the Ballarat contest, in the test for bands’ own selection, occupied eighty (last) place. Malvern Tramways Band was the winner, with Newcastle Steelworks second, and Collingwood third. Malvern also won the quickstep competition, Kaikorai taking sixth place. —Press Assn.
