Beef sold at about late rates. No heavy-weight cattle yarded. Steers of a medium, weight, out well finished, made £7 :0s . o xv: hea-.y lat cows, £5 2s. to £5 3s.- forward condition 4-yenr steers, off turnips. 14s to £5 165.; forward cows, £2 2s sd. to £3 10s.; store cows, £1 to £2 2s. 6>l : gri d 20inonth I<> 2year heifers, suitable lor dairy purposes, £5 7s. 6d. to £5 10s.; others, £3 7s 6d. to £4; Jersey-cross and Jersey, £4 to £7; bulls. £1 10s. to £l4, according to breed and quality. Tho competition for fat sheep was not brisk, while buyers were present for all store sheep. Small woolly hoggets brought up to £7 35.; 2-tooth wethers, ICs. Pigs were a imall entry, which met with slack competition, bnconers making £4 Ils.; porkers. £2 6s to £3 10s.: store pigs. 12s. to £1 16s. . Messrs. Dalgety and Company. Limited. Palmerston North, report having held their annual spring cattle fair at lluntcrvillo on Thursday, when a very good yarding camo to hand, principally all grown cattle. There was n largo attendance of buyers, and although prices were not high, .there was a steady demand throughout ’the day, two pens of well-bred two-vear-olds meeting with very keen competition. Quotations:— Yearling steers, £1; 2-year steers. £2 Is.; 2-ycar heifers, £2'ss.’ 3-vear steers, £2 165.; well-bred 3vcar steers, in imod order, £4 75.; rough four-ycar-old bullocks. £2 2s. to £3 95.: 4-yea'r-old bullocks, low condition, £4 2s. to £4 55.; forward bullocks. £5 Is. 6d. to £5 Bs.; fat cows. £5 12s ; forward cows. £3 Is. A line of 50 2-ycar Hereford steers realised £3 3s. 6d.. and a pen of 65 2-year S.II. steers. £3 s°. 6<l. Practically tho whole of the yarding changed hands.
