NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION THE ANNUAL REPORT The annual report of tho New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association states that the past year was an important and memorable one. The Davis Cup contest, held in Auckland during the season, must be ranked as the greatest event in the history of lawn tennis in New Zealand. This contest had brought the game into greater prominence, and given that stimulus which was necessary for its future welfare. Record entries were received for association and club tournaments, and greater interest haxl been shown by all tho provincial associations in the important matters that have been dealt with. The Waikato town Temiis Association was affiliated the jeai. The thirty-first annual New Zealand championship meeting was held in. Auckland after the Davis Cup match. The entries received established, a record lor Now Zealand. The competitors included. world’s champions, and the holder ot the world’s singles championship now held the men’s singles championship ot New Zealand. The 1921 championship meeting would be held on the Unrted Club’s courts at Christchurch, and from inquiries made the meeting promised to be interesting. , The annual statement of accounts showed the sound position of the assomation. The greater part of the income was derived from the championship mating which showed a profit of -£LB Bs. 7d A distribution of a portion of the funds of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australasia, of which the association received a sevqntli, added X 99 15s to the revenue. The committee considered it advisable to include a cash statemen in the annual accounts. Ihe lai„o amount of tho liabilities at the end of the 1920 year (sundry creditors X - b». Id.; and England v. New Zealand match, -£5O 10s 10d.: totalling X 173 ss. lid.) necessitate withdrawing XllO from the Savings Bank account. -the Australasian Association’s statement of accounts in connection with the Davis Cup match in Auckland caused the committee much concern, and after careful consideration a form’al protest against then-accept-ance was made through the Lew Zea land delegates to the council of the Australasian association. It was to give full information at present as the matter was still under consideratiom More interest had been shown m t o junior tennis during the past year no doubt the oonnng season vould bee an improvement in the organisation public school associations. The agreement which had governed the interests of the Australasian and Nw Zca’and associations m tho Dans Ci.p contests held in Australasia would expire on April 8. 'The this agic-ement did effect. the a * lion of the New Zealand wi h tho Australasian association. deciding to give notice to determine tl e agreement, the committee consulted the affiliated associations, and discussed the matter with members of the management committee of tho association vho held office when the agreement had been rawn up. The result was a unanimous agreement with the proposal to £ivo notice to determine the agreement.
