NOTES AND COMMENTS By Glencoe. FINAL GALLOPS AT TRENTHAM. Perfect weather prevailed for the final trollops at Trentham yesterday, and there was a good crowd of watchers, including a sprinkling of the fair sex. No. 1 grass gallop was open, and tne middle of the course proper was ready for two-year-olds engaged at the meeting who were to gallop. At 5 a.m. J. XV Lowe sent Insurrection a mile with G. Pritchard's charge, Esperance. The first-named, who looks ver;/ well and great’y improved for his trip to Australia, comfortably accounted lor the Martian mare in Imin. 49sec H. Telford sent Solfanella out to gallon six furlongs. The Solferino geding had Weary Willie to assist him over the first half, and was brought home by Vindictive. He completed his task in imin. 17 2-ssec.—a useful gallop. Blackmail, by herself, did thrcc-Quarter pace work. Astinomo comfortably accounted for Opiate over five furlongs, the last four taking 62sec Gasbag, who is very lamo, went a couple of rounds by himself. Flight Commander and Militairc went a. mile, the last seven furlongs taking Imin. 35sec.
Delight and tho rest of the Stead team were given easy tacks. Grotesque (R. Reed) on tho outside of Penitent (A Reed) comfortably accounted for his stable-companion over a mile, which took Imin. 45sec. This was the best gallop of the morning. Deborah and Jolly Bruce ran down half a mile from the barrier on the course proper in 51 l-ssen. S-nub and Vagabond left a mile behind in Imin. 46 2-ssec. The last-named greatly pleased the track watchers.
Halifax was going better than Dainty Step at the finish of a mile the last seven furlongs of which took Imin 32 3-ssec. This was a good gallop. Scion and Quest finished together, racing five furlongs in Imin. 4sec. Callaghan was much too good for Password over half a mile, which took 55sec. The pair cantered round again, tan Cl brushed home down the straightListowel, carrying more weight than Thespian, was going the best at the end of six furlongs, which took Imin. 15ecc. A smart gallop. Maioha was much better than Battle Song over a mile, the last seven furlongs taking Imin. 33 l-ssec. Trespass and Miss Gold ran five furlongs in Imin. 4soc. Oelmisia ran a- very fast half-mile alone. The time was 51sec Bonnio Heather was in front of The Sneaker at the end of n mile which took Imin. 47sec.
The fastest gallon of the morning was recorded by Tho Hawk, who bent Fulsome over four furlongs in 48 ?.-sseo.
War Path was better than Cremp de Menthe at tho end of five furlongs in Imin. 3sec. A smart gallop Danger Zone and Still Sea covered th a same ground in similar time
Molvneaux fltrain *1 cased by the way he got •over a mile. He was brought- home by Tlgrinia, and tho last seven furlongs took Imin. 33sec. Jackaroo and War Baby ran five furlongs. the last half-mile taking 53sec. Backsheesh pleased the touts by the way he galloped with Tinihanga over five furlongs. Admiral Codrington and fctylfg'h Lady were given steady work separately. Amongst the two-year-olds Epitanh stood out She ran down the straight halfmile with The Dunce, and was lengths ahead mt the finish. April Folly went with another division, and easily beat them. Acceptances for the Taratahi meeting close tonight, at 9 o’clock. Entries for tho minor events nt the JC. meeting, forfeits for the Welcome Stakes.
