BRITISH WREATH TO BE TAKEN BY NOTED AIRMAN’S MOTHER. (Rec. October 13, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 12. Mrs. M'Cudden, mother of the late Major M'Cudden, V.C., the noted airman, has been chosen to taka a national wreath to the United States for ths grave of the American unknown warrior. The journey is being made under the auspices of the Pilgrim Fathers’ Association. The wreath is six feet high, and consists of flowers representing the United Kingdom and the Dominions. Mrs. M'Cudden’s husband served for thirty years in the Army. She lost three sons, a son-in-law, and two nephews in the war.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [Major James Byford M'Cudden, V.C., D. 5.0., M.C., M.M., of the Royal Air Force, was accidentally killed in France on July 8, 1918. Ho was awarded the V.C. in March, 1918, up to which time he had accounted for 54 enemy aeroplanes. of which 42 had been definitely destroyed, 19 of them on the British side of the lines. On two occasions he totally destroyed four two-seater enemy aeroplanes on the same day, and in one case all four machines wero destroyed'in the space of an hour and a half.]
