Tho Council of the League of Nations has decided that Poland is to receive the southern districts, Plcss, and the greater part of Rybnik. Germany retains the western districts of Gleiwitz and Zabrze and tho town of Bouthen. Poland receives Koenigshutte and the outskirts of Beuthen, and the town and outskirts of Kattowitz, also the eastern portion of tho districts of Tarnowitz and Lublinitz, the western portion going to Germany, who retains the other northern western, and central districts.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. (Rec. October 13, 5.5 p.m.) Berlin, October 12. Cabinet held a sitting lasting several hours. It received reports from Ambassadors that were all of the same tenor, that they were unable to exercise any influence in obtaining a favourable decision for Germany over Silesia. All added that there was ifttlq prospect of the Supreme Council reversing its decision. The evening papers appeared with headings such as "Injustice of Genova." Under the influence of the news the mark fell fifty points. Tho fury of the Press and the public is indescribable, especially as many believed that the threat that the Wirth Ministry would resign would have had an effect bn England and France. —Aus.-N.Z.
