SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
The monthly meeting of the Sunday School Union was held in the Karori Methodist Churcli last evening. The president, Mr. F. Meadowcroft, was in the chair. Between 40 and 50 delegates were present. Tho Rev. G. E. Brown extended a hearty welcome to the union on its first visit to Karori. It was reported that the "rally” held in the Town Hall had passed off very successfully, and it was hoped that when all returns were in there would be a fair amount available towards providing prizes for tho scholars. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. W. E. Howe for arranging the programme and training the scholars, and to Mr. Gilbert Howe for presiding at the organ. The secretary stated that he had been in communication with Palmerston North with regard to holding tho next convention in that town, and it was anticipated that an invitation would be received. The Upper Hutt Presbyterian School was accepted ns a member of the union. Tho class conducted' by Mr. Herons for teachers was reported to have-been very successful from many points of view, but owing to various reasons tho attendance towards tho end had fallen off. It was hoped to have a similar class next winter. Tho deacons of tho Cambridge Terrace Congregational Church were thanked for lending their schoolroom for tho class. A report was received from the examiners upon the respective merits of the Australasian and international courses of lessons. They strongly recommended' the Australasian course as being in every way more suitable for New Zealand schools. It was decided to go fully into the matter at an early date. Air. T. H. Gill has promised to attend the. union meeting and discuss the matter with the delegates. An address was delivered by Mr. F. E. Laurenson on “The Intermediate School, Refreshments were provided by the ladies of the Karori school.
