NEW BASIC WAGE
ACTION BY EMPLOYERS AWAITED. (Rec. October It, 7.25 p.m.) , Sydney, October 11. The new basic wage declaration is not regarded very seriously in unionist circles. The opinion is expressed that it is an attempt by a few employers to reduce wages. It is thought that most of them will not consider it worth while to ppply to the Arbitration Court for a reduction of such a small amount as 3s. weekly. However, tho action on tho part of the employers generally, nnd what steps will lie taken in regard to the Civil Service and railway employees in the matter is awaited with considerable interest.—Press Assn.
