YOUNG CITIZENS’ LEAGUE
' Following is a copy of a circular letter which has been scut vut to all |he head teachers of city and suburban schools: — "Tho following representatives of the Young Citizens' League will visit Wellington in order if possible to extend the operations of the league to Wellington and to other parts of New Zealand: —Mr. Cutten. Senior Magistrate,' of Auckland; Mr. Campbell, Registrar of the Auckland University College; Dr. Maguire, medical superintendent of tho Auckland Hospital; Mr. Stebbing, organiser of the Young Citizens League; and Mr. Purdie, secretary of the Auckland Education Board. By arrangement with the office-bearers of the local branch of the institute, these gentlemen will attend the next meeting in the board room, on Wednesday next, at 8 o clock, in order to address teachers of Wellington and suburbs. Will head teachers kindly extend to all members of their respective staffs a very hearty invitation, to bo present? The avowed object of the league is to create higher ideals of good citizenship. The league is already publishing an excellent young people’s paper, and communications received show that its work is appreciated by tho teaching profession in Auckland, and bv others who Irnvc at heart the welfare of the young.—G. L. Stewart, Secretary.” A nicotine of the Wellington branch of the N.Z.E.T. has been summoned for to-morrow evening, when among otheff business Mr. Graham will submit a motion advocating the teaching in the schools of the existence, aims, etc., of tho League of Nations.
