Tho South Canterbury Caledonian Society has adopted a programme for its New A’ear meeting (two days), allotting prize money totalling about £lOO. Ihe thief events and prizes are:—Running, 120 yards handicap, £5O; TOO yards, £l6. Cycling, two miles ami one mile and a half wheel races. £3O and £lO respectively.—Press Assn. Over 1.500,000 houses were destroyed in Polish towns and villages during the war, and already nearly 500,000 have been rebuilt.
