SENIOR CRICKET

Sir,—Reading in one of your issues I was amazed to road that at the Cricket ; Association meeting Mr. Baker propos- , ed that only the same old six teams be admitted to senior status (as pre-arrang- • ed). Result, carried. Did we not have a letter some time back from tins gentleman condemning the sole selector because he was not included in the representative team? Well, tho junior cricketers have just tho same feeling, for when a team has now the junior championship for three successive seasons without being beaten once, surely it is only a just thing for ibis association to allow jthem to try senior status, in place of ono of the bottom senior teams? They say they do not want mushroom clubs springing up. Which is the best, to go on tho field with, one whole team, or go on under tho East Club, say, who had ono senior and a junior with eight or nine men nt the most every Saturday? Yet. this club is allowed to carry on. I suppose it will be pointed out that Wellington had six strong teams in tho senior championship, and with players selected from them won tho Blanket Shield. Oh, yes, remember Wellington has to travel up to Auckland with that shield, and I sincerely hope (hero will not. bo so many l.b.w. decisions, for Auckland' has a chance to got it back. May T also that seeing this association has a number of musicians in their ranks, that in order to obtain funds for tho new pavilion they obtained permission from the City Council to play their silver trumpets on the street corners for tho same fund. Thanking you, Sir, in anticipation—l am, etc., BERNARD CARLTON.
