£6OOO OF COMMONWEALTH STOCK INVOLVED HOLDERS PROTECTED BY TREASURY By Telegranh- Prera Association— Copyright Melbourne, October 10. Uneasiness has been caused by the discovery of forgeries of two transfers of Commonwealth stock involving 56000. Investigations are proceeding, but it. is believed that no other forgeries exist. The stock, when transferred to the fictitious nominees of the forgers, was sold in tho market, and tho forgers got clear with the proceeds. The original holders of tho stock aro not sufferers, as the Treasury purchased covering stock, and placed it to the credit of tho holders whose names were forged. Tho Treasury announces that it holds all stock holders absolutely protected.—Press Assn.
