RELATED PRINTING TRADES UNION

A successful smoke concert was held in the Marine Institute on Saturday eveiiing to celebrate tho amalgamation of tho Wellington Bookbinders and Paper Rulers Trades Society with tho Letterpress Printers, Machinists, Lithographers, and Paper Cutters' Union. Mr. R. H. Hustler presided over an attendance of eighty-five. The toasts included "Tho King;" “Our Union," .proposed by Mr. J. O’Connor (machinist) and Mr. Osborne (bookbinder), and responded to by Mr. Hustler and Mr. M. J. Ferguson; “Departed Members," Mr. Clifford and Mr. P. J. Fleming; “Kindred Organisations,” Mr. C. H. Chapman and Mr. R. H. .Stickney. Musical items were given by Messrs. G. Savage, P. M'Madron, W. Robertson, J. Morris, r. J. I’leming, IL Carter, tho Fan-thoi-pe Musical Co., R. J. Wilson, E. J.‘ Haigh, and W. Jackson. During the evening tho chairman stated that the membership of the amalgamated union was about three hundred. Ho anticipated that having ono union instead of two would permit of a considerable saving in management expenses, and would strengthen tho members in their endeavour to maintain and improve the status of .workers in tho printing industry. ” ,
