EARLY SETTLERS
WINTER REUNION. < The annual winter reunion of pioneer settlers and their descendants will, bo held at tho Town Hall on the night of Dominion Day (Monday next). Their Excellencies the Governor-General and Fatly Jollicoe havo promised to attend. . Among those who are expected to speak are Sir Francis Bell, the son of one intimately associated with the early efforts of our pioneers. Sir George Hunter, M.P., grandson of the head of the first house of Port Nicholson. D-. A. K. ‘ Newman, M.P., closely connected with our foremost, pioneers of the early days, and other early settlers or their representatives. Tho president of the association. will also make a. short speech. The musical side of the gathering has also been well arranged. The proceedings will open with the National Anthem. to ba followed by the singing of the "Old Hundredth,’’ with organ accojnpaniment. It is expected the pioneers will hear once moi'e their favourite singer of earlier days (Mrs. Parsons, sen.) and many other well-known performers. . His Worship the Mayor will preside, and the pioneer settlers left are heartily invited to attend. All will be welcome * to attend and renew acquaintances with friendr of earlier days, once again to talk , of old times together. Refreshments will be served towards the close of the proceedings. .
