INFECTIOUS DISEASES
LAST WEEK’S NOTIFICATIONS. Infectious disease notifications covering the Wellington health district - for the week ended noon yesterday numbered 69, compared with 59 for the previous week. There-.was a material rise in the number of diphtheria cases reported, but this was'! offset by a reduction in tho scarlet fever cases. Apart from this the figures do not call for comment. The following are the notifications in det ail: — Waipawa-—Pneumonia, 1. Palmerston North—Scarlet, fever, 1; diphtheria, 8; puerperal septicaemia, 1; varicella, 2; pneumonic influenza, 3. Wellington—Scarlet fever, 7; diphtheria, 8; pneumonic influenza, 2; pneumonia, 2; erysipelas, 1; tuberculosis, 7; varicella, 9. \ Wairarapa—Scarlet fever, 2; diphtheria, 3; poleomyelitis, 1; varicella, 2; pneumonic influenza, 1; pneumonia, 1. Wairau—Scarlet fever, 1; septicaemic influenza, 1. Picton—Varicella, 1; pneumonia, 1. Nelson— Diphtheria, 1: tuberculosis, 2.
