THE AUGUST RETURNS SHRINKAGE IN IMPORTS AND EXPORTS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, September 8. The Board of Trade returns for the inonth of September show a shrinkage in both export and import trades, as fel-lows-.—lmports decreased by £64,762,265; exports by .£63,551,028; re-exports by £3,370,568. Tlie principal decreases in imports were: Grain and flour, £10,352,542; dutiable food and drink, £4,737,778; wood and timber, £8,489,001; raw cotton, £7,264,004; raw wool, £4,624,527. The chief decreases in exports were: Iron, steel, and manufactures thereof, £8,367,668; cotton yarns and manufactures, £24,811,863; woollens, worsteds, yarns, and manufactures, £7,982,143; apparel, £3,114,460. The principal increase in imports was meat, £2,480,977. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
