MAGISTRATE’S COURT

POLICE AND CIVIL CASES.

Maurice J. W. Smy'th (for whom Mr. C. B. O’Donnell appeared) was charged before Mr. F. K, Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday that on June 18 at Te Waewae, Southland, ha obtained the sum of 331 from Nora Flanagan by means of a false pretence, namely, that he was a Government official and that it was compulsory for her to purchase a ibook that he was selling. On tho application of Chief Detective Ward he was remanded to appear at Invercargill on September 1 Bail was allowed in one surety of 3350. For drunkenness, Isidoro Jacobus was fined 205., an/1 Alexanded J. M'Lean 10s.

Wilson, to give up possession of a dwelling to James Torrance by September 30. .
