The (representative match between hockey teams of Manawatu and Auckland was played on the sports ground yesterday before a good crowd of spectators. The visitors proved to be the superior combination by three goals to nil. Tho game, although fast, was devoid of brilliancy. The first score was the outcome of a paSsing rush between the Watts 'brothers and Frater. the latter sending in a hot shot which beat Cousins, the Manawatu custodian. M'Le.od instigated the next score by sending the ball out to L. Grice. The latter made a nice run as far as the circle, from where he sent a stinging shot into the net. In the second spell the local men evened up play, and it was not until this half was well advanced that C. Watts registered the third goal fpr his- side from a scramble in front of the home team’s gcal. Messrs. J. Paton and J. H. Nash were the referees.
