Tho Japanese Note accepting the invitation to the armament conference lias been 1 received. It expresses pleasure at President Harding’s initiative, and declares the peace and welfare of the world has long been a chronic subject for solicitude. The Japanese Government and people alike welcome the idea of limitation of armaments, and are sympathetic to the suggestion for control of tho use of novel agencies of war. The arrival at general principles/and their applications at tile conference is rogarded as of great value and importance. The Note adds: "The Government would emphasise the pre-eminently vital interest Japan has in the preservation of peace in the Pacific and tho Far East. Japan accepts the agenda proposal in harmony with Japan’s suggestions contained in the informal acceptance of the conference."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
