“TOO PREPOSTEROUS”

EMPLOYERS REFUSE 'TO DISCUSS UNION’S DEMANDS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, August 24. The licensed and private hotel-keepers and saloon and tea-room proprietors in the district from Wanganui to Napier have been cited by the three unions concerned for a new award. They have just appeared before tho Conciliation Council in Wanganui and adopted the unusual procedure of declining to discuss any of the new demands with tho union's assessors. The employers considered that tho demands were too preposterous to hold out any. hope of reaching an agreement. The throe disputes will therefore go to the Arbitration Court, whose decision tho employees will stand by.
