COLO ORE!) NATIVES’ PROTEST. Cape Town, August 18. The native coloured population in Johannesburg is protesting strongly against tho now poll-tax passed by the Provincial Council. A meeting resolved not to pay the poll-tax until the legality of taxation without representation was tested, and decided to ask the Government to prosecute ono of their number as a test case.—Aus.-N.Z.
