Some time ago a deposit of free was discovered near Alfredton. in# Farmers’ Union- took the matter up and samples have been shown by test to contain 94 per cent, of pure lime. A ext Friday Mr. F. AV. Greenwood, of the Agricultural Department, will visit the deposit in company with- a committee ot farmers and an endeavour will be made to estimate the quantity of lime available. If Mr. Greenwood’s report is satisfactory, arrangements will be made later to work the deposit. It is stated that a portion of the soldiers’ settlement at Rototawai suffered serious damage in consequence of the recent floods. As an outcome of representations made by Mr. A. D. M Leod, M.P. Mr. G. H. M'Clure (Commissioner of Crown Lands) will visit the settlement to-day with a view to giving Government ,
