HATAITAI MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION
The monthly meeting of the Ha.ta.itai Municipal Electors’ Association was held on Tuesday, Mr. A. D. Bavfeild (president) in the chair. An address was given by Mr. D. M'Laron on tho functions pf the proposed civic league. He suggested that the association be represented at the forthcoming meeting of those interested, when it was hoped to inaugurate the league. It. was decided that Messrs. A. D. Bayfeild and J. L. Arcus should attend that gathering, and. report thereon. The City Council is to be approached with reference to tho construction of a storm-water drain to carry off the surface water, which it is alleged is being distributed by one of their sumps on to a local resident’s section, and information is also being sought as to whether permission was given for the erection of tho display board which now adorns the street line at tho southern end of the tunuel. Final arrangements were detailed for the complimentary entertainment to ba tendered by the residents to the association’s late president, Mr. A. Leigh Hunt, in recognition of his past services to the district, and it was decided that advantage will be taken of the opportunity to present him with an iliuminated address. In view of the overcrowding in tramcars on the late shoppine night, if was decided to request; the tramway department to if possible arrange for an extra, car between <.15 and fC p.m. on that evening.
