ILLEGITIMACY LAWS
« DRASTIC AMENDMENTS PROPOSED IN BRITAIN. (Rec. August 10, 8.30 p.m.) London, August 9. Labour members of the House of Commons introduced an Illegitimacy Bill, proposing drastic amendments of the law, including a provision that affiliation applications may bo made before a child's birth, a maximum weekly maintenance of A2, and a lather may be ordered to contribute towards his child’s apprenticeship and special education. Maintenance may be ordered beyond the age of sixteen if the child, is physically or mentally deformed. In the alternative the Court may order the payment of a lump sum. A child may be legitimised by the subsequent marriage of the parents. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
