The “Morning Post’s” correspondent at Constantinople states that the Angora Parliament overwhelmingly ratified the Kemalist Treaty with Moscow. Yotissouf Kemal Bey, Foreign Minister, said that Turkey was fighting for its freedom, and Russia sympathised in this ideal as directed .towards the liberation of the Oriental peoples. The Bolshevik Ambassador communicated with Youssouf regarding tho Turkish reverses, stating: "Greece means to break vour resources, but it is certain she can never keep the territories she now holds unjustly. The Russian nation and Red Army hope for the realisation of vour aims, and are watching the war sympathetically."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. TURKS LOSE 30,000 MEN SINCE GREEK OFFENSIVE LAUNCHED. Athens, August 1. It is estimated that since launching the offensive the Turks have lost thirty thousand men, of whom nine thousand were taken prisoner, nine thousand deserted, and twelve thousand were killed or wounded.—Aus.-N.Z. Briand is anxious that tho Council shall discuss the Near East, and adds that if the prospects of successful intervention between Turkey and Greece are considered good the subject will bo debated.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. CLAIMS - OF GREECE OCCUPATION OF CONSTANTINOPLE DEMANDED. Athens, August I.’ Despite official denials those well informed persist in stating that M. Gounario will shortly visit Paris and London to defend Greek claims in/ Asia Minor.
