The Maori faith-healer Ratana, with his followers, who returned from the south on Saturday and went to tho Little River Native settlement, will visit Tuahiwi, near Kaiapoi, before returning to the North Island later in the week (says the Christchurch "Sun”). Ratana received: a very warm welcome from tho Natives at Teniukn and also at Otakou (Otago). The gathering at Tetnuka numbered over 400 people, and many patient*; were brought there for treatment. One woman, entirely crippled by n chronic form of sciatica, was able to walk normally within 15 minutes of receiving Ratana’s ministrations. . Ratana his secretary says, is gratified to find that the South Island Maoris do not practise tohungaism, but keep up good ancient customs and traditions which, have been dropped by many of their fellows in the north. It probable that a book will be published describing Ratana’s tours of both islands.
