The London “Daily Express” states that Aden is being transferred from the control of the Government of India to that of the Colonial Office, which will effect a saving of T 300.000 yearly in the cost of administration. Claims have lieen submitted in Sydney on 'behalf of domestics in club**, hoardinghouses, and private residences, asking for a forty-eight hour week, and increased rates of pay-, ranging from £5 7s. 6d. for cooks, to £2 14s. for housemaids. Tho secretary of the Victorian Labour Party states that ho will move nn amendment in tho Legislative Assembly with a view to amalgamating the Farmers’ Party and the Labour Party in indictments against the State Government. A London messace states that Mr. XV. W. Bowring, of Christchurch, has presented the Victoria Longue with a portrait of the Dowager Countess .of .Terser, which he painted as a recognition of the league’s kindness to overseas visitors. Tzird Gorell accepted the presentation on behalf of the league.
