WATERSIDE WORKERS’ UNION
The election of officers o£ the Waterside Workers’ Union will be held shortly. Messrs. L. Glover (retiring president) and R. Gould have been nominated for the presidency. The following have been elected unopposed: Messrs. T. Brindle (vice-president), W. T. Bassett (treasurer). J. G. Bruce (secretary), J. Laurenson (assistant-secretary), B. Harrison and B. Cody (trustees), A. Glass, T. Kerwin. and G. Voisoy (members of executive representing No. 2 stevedores), P. H. Ollirod (band representative), J. Smart (returning officer), R. J. Peal and E. Harrison (scrutineers). Messrs. H. Faircldugh, 11. Martin, B. Nye, and J. O’Donnell have been nominated for three committee vacancies, representing No. 1 stevedores; Messrs. L. Hennessey, C. Huddy. J. Tornhill, and J. W. Trim for three vacancies, representing Harbour Board workers; Messrs. M. Broadhurst, T. Cartwright, J. H. Dunn, G. Luff, J. O’Brien, and D. Reidy, for three vacancies. representing coal workers. Messrs. E. E. Canhnin, L. Hennessey, and J. J. O'Neill are seeking election as emergency secretary.
