THE HIGHWAYS BILL

DRAFT MEASURE PREPARED. The Minister of Public Works told Parliament last session that when the Bill dealing with arterial Toads had been prepared, he would circulate it among the local authorities throughout the Dominion in order that its provisions might be fully discussed before legislation was placed on the statute book. A draft Highways Bill has been in the hands of Ministers, but the measure has not yet taken its final form, and some time may elapse yet before the local bodies are acquainted with tho proposals of the Government for the construction and maintenance of main roads.
